Imagine a freelancing footballer

Andrew Flintoff rejecting the central contract offered by the England & Whales Cricket Board so that he becomes free to travel well across five continents and play in six different private leagues has sparked of f a huge debate weather playing for the country is important anymore??? Or in other words restricting yourself to national commitment is worthwhile for a player of that calibre.
What is freelancing?
In sporting context it means rejecting the central contract of country’s concerned sporting association so that you are available to play various league clubs and make huge amount of money which many players may not be able to earn while playing for his country or team as a contracted player. More importantly as one claimed, the player can go bungee jumping for the remaining part of your career.
Imagine, impressed with this idea, some of the world’s best footballers follow Flintoff and go freelancing. The football world order may change their outlook…
Wayne Rooney for example, rejecting England’s central contrant, continue playing for Manchester United and when their are some international friendlies or world cup going on he may simply leave England and travel to West Asia or Korea-Japan to play for one or two league games from any of their league’s respective team who offer convincing amount of money to him.
Similarly, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo , currently world’s richest footballer playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid, rejects his central contract with Portugal and play for various league clubs in the US, Brazil, Africa while his national team counterparts are fighting for a place in world cup finals. This will add on to his huge amount of wealth. Its an old saying “money comes to those who already has a lot of it”.
This gesture may even make them a global face recognised in every part of any country and after retiring they can even be a peaceful ambassador for the United Nations. Seems to be a great idea!!!Apart from players, some coaches, even though not hired by country’s football federations can accept invitations of various football clubs and give them a tip or two.
It seems great rejecting your country’s central contract and go freelancing and make money but what about the zeal of playing for the country. How can one compensate for not playing for the country where you grew up and started learing football and hence became master of it and set an example for the upcoming generation to follow. It takes a lot to reach to that level and wear your country’s jersey and the feeling of wearing your country’s jersey is priceless which has to be same infact more nad more till the time you hung up your boots.
